  • SOMA Public Relations is an award-winning, B Corp certified PR agency that provides purpose-driven and socially responsible businesses and non-profit organizations with strategic communication services.  We are on the hunt for a talented, passionate senior PR expert to join our Metro Vancouver-based team for a newly created full-time role. 

    This opportunity is ideal if you excel in your craft of communications and PR, and love working with innovative clients who are committed to making a difference and having impact.  We’re looking for someone who can jump into almost any situation and approach it with positivity, curiosity and the ability to think critically to deliver solutions. No day/week will be the same. Ideal candidates are located in the Metro Vancouver area so that you can work closely with our hybrid team (in office Tues/Thurs, remote Mon/Wed/Fri) and learn as much as possible to enrich connections with our clients and one another.

    What you’ll be doing:

    • Work with clients on brainstorming sessions and PR communications strategy

    • Developing and executing strategic PR campaigns for clients - ongoing storytelling, media briefings, media training, media material development (pitches, press releases, key messaging, etc.), ongoing client management, reporting

    • Conduct in-depth research on clients and their target markets 

    • Create client PR plans and independently launch and execute integrated PR campaigns.

    • Meeting with clients to discuss and suggest fresh storytelling opportunities outside of PR plans - working with junior team members to assist.

    • Directly provide clients with regular campaign updates, next steps, and results.

    • Assist with researching, planning and executing media and client events.

    • Developing targeted media lists, securing media coverage across B.C., Canada and North America through strategic pitching.

    • Pitch client stories to media outlets, journalists, podcasts, conferences, reporters, etc.

    • Participating in media training sessions to prepare clients for interviews, ensuring they are equipped with key messages and confident in media interactions.

    • Work with clients on crisis management strategy, solutions, and communication campaigns.

    • Write client op-eds.

    • Distribute newswires.

    • Schedule and coordinate interviews for clients.

    • Continually research industry best practices and provide clients with industry leading advice.

    • Coach junior team members on PR concepts and solutions, providing direction to develop client reports, reviewing, and delivering to clients on time.

    • Review SOMA Public Relations yearly objectives, and work with team to meet overall goals.

    Qualifications:

    • 5+ years of PR experience.

    • Proven team leader.

    • Outstanding written and oral communication skills.

    • Previous media event management experience and proven track record of coordinating on-site media interviews on behalf of clients is a must.

    • Must possess leadership qualities and the ability to make decisions and drive client work forward with confidence.

    • Proficient with computers, and ability to learn and work with a multitude of different software applications, i.e., databases, Canva, Meltwater, Google Docs, etc.

    • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team and individually.

    • Resourceful, self-motivated, reliable, organized, multi-tasker, positive attitude, known for exceeding expectations, and has a sense of humour.

    • Professional, detail-oriented, driven and a problem solver.

    This position is a hybrid workplace model: 

    • Tuesdays and Thursdays - Office in North Vancouver

    • Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays – Remote

    Compensation/Perks

    • $70,000 - $85,000 annually depending on experience

    • Home office allowance

    • Health and wellness allowance

    • Performance-based bonus program
