VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation - Chemo Robots
Vancouver General Hospital (VGH) is now the first in Canada to use robots designed to help prepare chemotherapy treatments. These $3 million robots were funded by the VGH and UBC Hospital Foundation’s Greater Than Cancer campaign and will reduce the time staff spend preparing medications and lower the risk of exposure to hazardous drugs.
Summer Ambassador Program - Interchange Recycling 2026
SOMA is excited to announce the launch of our 2026 Summer Ambassador Program with Interchange Recycling. Over the next six weeks, our two incredible ambassadors, Kithara and Fernanda, will be visiting communities across British Columbia to connect with residents, answer questions, and educate how to safely and properly recycle materials accepted through Interchange Recycling's programs. The ambassadors will visit community events and Return Collection Facilities, gathering valuable feedback, raise awareness about recycling practices, and help make recycling more accessible and understandable for British Columbians. Myriad Uranium has effectively doubled the size of its Copper Mountain uranium project in Wyoming, from around 9,439 acres to about 18,351 acres, by staking newly identified target areas flagged in recent geophysical surveys.

Waste from old mines on Mount Sicker could prove valuable for Vancouver-based company
Work may begin soon on a project that would see the processing of large quantities of waste rock on Mount Sicker, left over from mining operations that occurred on the mountain from 1895 to 1915, for valuable minerals.
As well, the project, proposed by the Vancouver-based mineral exploration firm Sasquatch Resources, would also involve a major clean-up of the site where more than 300,000 tonnes of sulphide-bearing waste rock was left exposed when the mining ceased.
Largest deconstruction project in B.C. paving the way for more sustainable construction projects
The deconstruction of an old dairy processing plant in Burnaby is on track to be the largest project of its kind in the province. Materials are being repurposed into new homes and part of a new energy centre for the city. As the CBC's Janella Hamilton reports, it's an example of some of the sustainable construction projects happening in B.C.
