Interchange Recycling: Yukon Launch
Interchange Recycling Opened Permanent Location in Yukon, First Ever Outside BC
Yukon is actively enhancing its recycling infrastructure and has set targets to reduce per capita waste generation. Interchange Recycling is among one of the first EPR programs to be approved by the Yukon Environment Protection and Assessment Branch. After being in operations in British Columbia for over two decades, this was the first ever collection site outside B.C. This new convenient collection service provides accessible recycling options for lubricating oil, antifreeze, diesel exhaust fluid, oil filters, and automotive containers for businesses, consumers, and industry stakeholders.
In August 2025, SOMA PR supported Interchange Recycling to launch this new collection facility in Whitehorse, Yukon by hosting a media event, attended by Yukon Government officials, Interchange Leadership Team and local media outlets.
What We Did
Developed and executed an integrated earned media strategy to build awareness and momentum ahead of the launch. From the initial announcement through to the official opening, SOMA maintained a steady media presence, positioning Interchange Recycling as a trusted partner in Yukon’s evolving recycling system.
