SOMA Public Relations Named Finalist for CPRS National Awards of Excellence

SOMA Public Relations has been named a finalist for the Canadian Public Relations Society’s (CPRS) 63rd National Awards of Excellence. The awards recognize outstanding public relations campaigns, programs, and professionals across the country. SOMA is honoured to be shortlisted for Agency Team of the Year – Small (2–10 employees) and Best Non-Profit/NGO Campaign – Small Budget (under $25,000), reflecting both our strength as a team and our impact as strategic communicators.

Agency Team of the Year - Small

SOMA highlighted its strong growth, expanding from four to seven team members and increasing revenue by 24% while supporting 25 clients and reaching over 220 million people. The entry showcased the agency’s commitment to ethical, impact-focused storytelling, its collaborative team culture, and measurable campaign success, including standout work like the “Greater Than Cancer” campaign for VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation.

Backed by industry recognition, award wins, and thought leadership, SOMA demonstrated how it delivers meaningful results while advancing social and environmental impact. Ultimately, earning its place as a finalist.

Best Non-Profit/NGO Campaign - Small

For the “Best Non-Profit/NGO Campaign – Small Budget” category, SOMA Public Relations was recognized as a finalist for its work with Light House on the Construction Plastics Initiative (CPI). Working with an $18,000 budget, SOMA transformed a highly technical national benchmarking study on construction plastic waste into a compelling, timely media story.

By aligning the findings with the upcoming Federal Plastics Registry and positioning CPI as a proactive industry solution, SOMA secured widespread coverage across Canada and internationally, reaching over 14 million people. The campaign elevated awareness, influenced industry and policy conversations, and positioned Light House as a thought leader in circular construction and sustainable waste management.
